Comfortable, Stress-Free Oral Surgery—Tailored to You

At Kissimmee Oral Surgery, your comfort and safety are our top priorities. We understand that oral surgery can be an intimidating experience for some patients. That’s why we offer several sedation options designed to ease anxiety, eliminate pain, and help you feel calm and confident before, during, and after your procedure.

Our oral and maxillofacial surgeons are extensively trained in outpatient sedation and anesthesia, ensuring that your treatment is both safe and comfortable—whether it’s a simple tooth extraction or a complex surgical procedure.

Sedation Dentistry Options

Sedation provides patients with general dental anxiety—or apprehension about specific procedures—a way to undergo treatment without fear or discomfort. By using carefully controlled sedatives, we can guide patients into a deeply relaxed state where they experience little to no pain, discomfort, or memory of the surgery.

Types of Sedation We Offer:

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

A mild inhaled sedative that helps you stay calm and relaxed. It is administered through a small nasal mask and wears off quickly after the procedure—making it an ideal option for patients who wish to drive themselves home.

Oral Conscious Sedation

This involves taking a prescribed oral medication before your appointment to help you feel deeply relaxed. Because of its lasting effects, you’ll need a responsible adult to escort you to and from the office.

IV Sedation / General Anesthesia

For patients undergoing more complex procedures—or those with high anxiety—IV sedation offers deeper relaxation. Sedation is administered through a vein and adjusted as needed throughout the surgery. You’ll need to fast prior to your appointment and have someone accompany you and drive you home afterward.

Before Your IV Sedation Appointment

To ensure your safety and the effectiveness of your sedation, please follow these pre-operative instructions:

  • Do not eat or drink anything (including water) for 8 hours before your appointment.
  • No smoking for at least 12 hours before surgery (the sooner you stop, the better).
  • A responsible adult must accompany you, remain in the office during your procedure, and drive you home.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery for 24 hours after surgery.
  • Wear loose-fitting clothing with sleeves that can be rolled up past the elbow.
  • Remove contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures before surgery.
  • Avoid wearing lipstick, heavy makeup, or nail polish on the day of your procedure.
  • Inform us if you develop a cold, sore throat, stomach upset, or other illness before your appointment.
  • Discuss all medications you're currently taking with Dr. Ason prior to surgery.

After IV Sedation

Post-surgery, it’s important to:

  • Rest at home with minimal activity for at least 24 hours.
  • Hydrate with clear fluids and start with soft foods.
  • Avoid driving or making important decisions until the sedation has fully worn off.
  • Follow all instructions provided at the time of your visit for pain management and hygiene.

Your comfort, safety, and a smooth recovery are our priorities. Don’t hesitate to contact our office if you have any questions post-procedure.
