Since dentures rest on the bone ridge, the underlying bone and gum structure must be properly shaped to provide optimal stability and function.
When a tooth is extracted, the remaining bone may be uneven, sharp, or irregularly shaped, making it difficult for a denture to fit properly. In some cases, excess bone or gum tissue may also need to be removed to prevent discomfort or instability. Pre-prosthetic surgery helps create a smooth, stable foundation for long-term denture success.
